Tuesday 27th April: Transition in Cherry Hinton Group Meeting Friday 5th February: 'In Transition' - in Cherry Hinton Just a few of the many ideas suggested: - Use of empty properties as community spaces for sharing local produce & for skill-sharing workshops (e.g. cycle repair, gardening, DIY) - Clothes swap - Bag making workshop - Storytelling competition - Use of Cherry Hinton Hall for growing/as a city farm - Car sharing - Safer cycle paths - Walk/cycle to school scheme - School trip to allotment - Community land purchase - Solar panels on churches & schools (possibly grants from April) - Community cooks with meals and films - A community wild food walk Actions arising: - Stuart to investigate empty shop situation - Corrina to promote local story-telling competition in primary schools & library and also donate Transition handbook to library - Cara to contact allotment societies - Sam to talk to school's Environment Forum about possible 'Transition School' pilot scheme Friday 29th January: Film showing 'The Power of Community'(how Cuba survived Peak Oil);followed by salsa class with Cuban music. ![]() ![]() Feedback from the evening:- "I loved it and enjoyed chatting with the people I didn't even know.
